ASCAP and i-SAFE held a special school assembly yesterday in Washington, D.C., to discuss the impact of music piracy with middle-school students.

Songwriters Wynter Gordon ("Gonna Breakthrough") and Bill Danoff ("Afternoon Delight," "Take Me Home Country Roads") joined Rep. Mary Bono, R-Calif., at the Donny the Downloader Experience held for Backus Middle School. Students had the opportunity to interact with the music creators and the representative to learn more about how music is created and the effects of music piracy.

Bono is vice chair of the Entertainment Task Force, founder/co-chair of the Recording Arts and Sciences Caucus, and founding co-chair of the Intellectual Property Promotion and Piracy Prevention Caucus.

More than 500,000 students across the United States have participated in the educational program put together by ASCAP and i-SAFE.
