Warner Music-signed Spanish artist Huecco will take the place of multi-platinum singer Melendi at a Nov. 17 Rock En Ñ concert in Mexico City.

Melendi has decided not to appear following a Nov. 13 incident on an Iberia state aircraft en route from Madrid to Mexico. Melendi was arrested after the plane returned to Madrid two hours after taking off, following a drink-related altercation with crew members.

Huecco, real name Iván Sevillano, was in a Los Angeles studio recording his second album for spring 2008 release, when he was contacted by Spanish authors' and publishers' society SGAE. SGAE is organizer of the 8th annual Rock En Ñ tour of Latin American countries - which this year visits Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia.

Rock En Ñ kicks off tonight in Buenos Aires, when Spain-based Argentine guitarist Javier Vargas and his Vargas Blues Band headline a concert with local artists Claudio Gabis (ex-Los Abuelos De La Nada), Alejandro Medina and Conejo Jolivert. Another Spain-based Argentine star, Ariel Rot, plays the same venue Nov. 17.

The Mexico City concert with Spanish artist Deluxe is a street concert behind Mexico Cathedral. Local artists Los Músicos de José, Los Gatos and San Pascualito Rey also play.

Huecco, ex-singer with Madrid band Sugarless, released his self-titled debut album in 2006. It was produced in L.A. by Latin Grammy winner KC Porter (Santana, Ricky Martin, Fabulosos Cadillacs, Bon Jovi), and was released to critical acclaim in Spain, United States, Mexico, Chile and Colombia.

Melendi was detained for several hours by Madrid police, then released without charges. His record company, EMI Mexico two weeks ago launched a compilation album of the artist's works, "Caminando Por La Vida", for Mexico only, and Melendi was to combine the Rock En Ñ concert in Mexico City with several TV and radio promo events to support the release. EMI Spain international exploitation manager Letizia Gimenez says "these promo dates will be rescheduled - now is not the best moment for Melendi to travel."

Melendi, 28, has apologised to fellow passengers for the incident, but says the pilot's decision to return to Madrid after two hours at 03:50 was "inordinate". He says, "I have never been on a long flight and I have a fear of flying. I had had a couple of drinks to overcome my fear. Now is the time for self-criticism, because I think I was out of order."

Rock En Ñ will hold several events in Caracas, Venezuela, between Nov 19-24. The tour ends in Bogota, Colombia, on Dec. 6 with a concert by another Spain-based Argentina star, Coti.
