Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones concert film "Shine A Light" will be released in 93 IMAX theaters in the U.S. April 4, a record wide first-day distribution for the super-sized film format.

"The highly positive exhibitor response to advance screenings of Mr. Scorsese's first IMAX release, combined with the growing IMAX theater network, has resulted in a new domestic day and date record," says Greg Foster, chairman and president of IMAX Filmed Entertainment.

By comparison, "U23D" opened in 25 IMAX theaters during its release earlier this year.

The film's image and sound has been digitally remastered for the format, and international IMAX release is scheduled to rollout in the weeks after the film's U.S. debut.

"IMAX puts you right in the center of every action and every move - it's as if you are right there on stage with the band," Scorsese says. "I've always loved looking at IMAX, but to see these images of the Rolling Stones on the biggest canvas is something else altogether."
