Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD) has partnered and invested in indie digital distribution and marketing company INgrooves.

The deal opens INgrooves’ menu of services -- which include digital retail sales/marketing, sales reporting, film and video distribution, and mobile -- to the UMG and Fontana labels. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Most recently, INgrooves served as the exclusive digital distributor of Dolly Parton's 'Backwoods Barbie." The company's clients include ESL Music, VP Records, A2M Distribution and Distinct'ive Records, as well as artists such as Tracy Lawrence, Thievery Corporation, Los Tigres del Norte, Tila Tequila, the Cool Kids, Prodigy, Lady Sovereign, Too $hort and The Crystal Method, among many others.
