Billing itself as the first regional Mexican TV program produced in New York City, "El Takonazo" debuts Friday, April 4 on Azteca America channels in New York and Chicago.

The weekly show -- produced by Navarro Entertainment -- airs Fridays at midnight. Hosted by radio personality Pedro Najera and actress/singer Victoria Ortiz, the show's premiere episode will feature an interview with duranguense star Diana Reyes.

"El Takonazo" will show regional Mexican music videos and interviews with internationally known artists, but will also showcase local talent (such as artists signed to Navarro Entertainment) and even restaurants.

"El Takonazo" sponsors include local businesses but also international brands like Tecate beer and Aeromexico, says Navarro spokesman Manuel Guerrero.

The program will air on Azteca America's Channel 39 in the tri-state area and Channel 13 in Chicago. "El Takonazo" debuts a little more than a year after New York City got its first regional Mexican FM radio station, Univision's WZAA (La Que Buena).
