Verve artist Ledisi will release her first holiday album, "It's Christmas," on Sept. 23, has learned.

The 12-track album features new takes on eight holiday favorites-including "Silent Night" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"-as well as four new songs co-written by Ledisi. Making guest appearances on "It's Christmas" are trumpeter Christian Scott, bluesman Keb' Mo' and veteran backing vocalists the Perri Sisters.

Ledisi says the album's mix of pop, R&B, soul and gospel was designed as a soundtrack for the hours after a holiday party. "I wanted the album to have that classic '50s feel but with an added sexiness," she explains.

The singer/songwriter's Verve debut, 2007's "Lost & Found," has sold 181,000 units, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Logging 48 weeks and counting on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, the album earned Ledisi two Grammy nominations: best new artist and best R&B album.
