After spending the majority of his career signed to Sony, and later, Sony BMG, Guatemalan singer/songwriter and top-selling artist Ricardo Arjona has signed a long-term recording deal with Warner Music Latina.

The deal was closed this month, and Arjona will release his new studio set, "Quinto Piso" on Nov. 18. The first single, titled "Como Duele," will be sent to radio Sept. 29.

"He's an artist that fits perfectly with our company," says Iñigo Zabala, chairman of Warner Music Latin America. "We are a label that has a major catalog of songwriters and quality pop and rock from the likes of Maná, Alejandro Sanz, Laura Pausini, and now, Arjona."

Sources say Arjona was actively courted by several majors before opting for the Warner deal, to which he brought in the already-recorded album of all-new material. "Quinto Piso" also includes an unlikely duet-with ranchera singer Paquita la el Barrio. Zabala describes the overall album as "very Arjona, with amazing compositions."

Arjona is considered one of Latin music's premiere authors and singers, and an artist who sells strongly throughout the region and is a major tour draw. His last album for Sony BMG was 2007's "Quién Dijo Ayer," which sold 100,000 in the United States alone in its original and deluxe versions, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
