Pop singer Kat DeLuna, best known for her 2007 lead hit single "Whine Up" featuring Elephant Man, has chosen to part ways with Epic Records, according to the artist's representatives.

"I am excited to step into a new phase of my career," DeLuna said via a statement. "As a young artist, I am always looking for innovative ways to expand my opportunities, from recording to performing, and I felt this was the right time to make a change. I truly do appreciate everyone at Epic Records' support of my career and wish them all the best."

DeLuna, who won Latin Dance Club Play Track Of The Year at this year's Latin Billboard Awards for "Whine Up," which reached No. 17 on the Pop 100 chart, is said to be currently working on her sophomore album with sought-after producers like Akon, Jim Jonsin, Red One and J. Bynum, among others.

The 20-year-old artist's debut album, "9 Lives," has sold 63,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
