- Public Enemy frontman Chuck D has signed on to be a spokesman, or "ambassador" for SellaBand, the music social network that has fans investing in their favorite artists.

- "American Idol" has released an iPhone app, developed by Zumobi. The app lets fans watch exclusive videos, bios and background information of each contestant, and news and blog posts about the show.

- Mobile entertainment service Dada Entertainment has launched a mobile subscription service in Canada. For $10 a month, members will get 10 credits which they can redeem for ringtones or graphics. Sony Music Entertainment is a major stakeholder, which has licenses from all four major labels.
