Angela Martinez has been named VP, Latin Business Affairs for EMI Latin America. In her new role, Martinez will be responsible for day-to-day business affairs at Capitol Latin, EMI's U.S. Latin company. Martinez replaces Oswaldo Rossi, who has moved to a new role in the EMI Music North America Business Affairs team.
As part of her new position, Martinez will also support EMI's Latin American operations, liaising with the Latin American business affairs team. She will report to Phil Wild, Senior VP of Business Affairs of EMI Music, North America, with dotted line reporting to Nestor Casonu, CEO of EMI Latin America.
Prior to her new post, Martinez had her own law practice in Miami, representing Latin acts like El Cata, writer/producer Aureo Baqueiro and Pitbull, whom she represented since he launched his career. Indeed, Pitbull often and publicly acknowledges one of his high school teachers, Hope Martinez, as the person who pushed him to get into music. She is, of course, sister to Angela Martinez, who would become her student's attorney.
