Don Omar was the star of the show at the Billboard Latin Music Conference Tuesday, and in between his Q&A with Billboard's Leila Cobo and his other myriad engagements, he stopped to talk to Billboard's cameras about his new album, recent collaborations, and the placement of his song "Danza Kuduro" within the Zumba fitness program.
Omar's album, due out May 1, was recorded completely in his own studio, and continues his career mission to not be branded as solely a reggaeton artist, with songs with Shaggy and Mims, to name just two. But it is his deal with Zumba - the biggest Latin American fitness program, working with 12 million people weekly - that is changing the way he sees the music industry. "I see it like, I'm gonna have 12 million hits weekly if I post a song with this new project," he said. "I think it is a great moment for me and for all the artists out there to start to look into these kinds of platforms to promote their music, because it is the business of the future."
