Was joins a list of panelists and presenters such as Google's Tim Quirk, Topspin's Ian Rogers, Epitaph's Jason Fienberg and many more speakers who have yet to be announced.

Blue Note Records has created significant buzz in the music industry with the release of both its Spotify and its iPad apps in recent weeks, both of which delve into the rich history of the label with visually appealing and forward-thinking technology. Its iPad app was the first commercial product from OpenEMI, an initiative from EMI that gives app developers pre-cleared access to EMI music and other content in return for a portion of an app's revenue. Was will speak about the label's approach to app development, his thoughts on the app as a new album format, and other issues related to new technology as it relates to music distribution and artist development.

Before signing on at Blue Note in August 2011, Was enjoyed an extensive career as an artist and as a producer for the likes of Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop, Al Green, B.B. King, the Rolling Stones, and a number of others, garnering a Grammy award for Producer of the Year in 1994.

FutureSound launched last year as a way to bring investors, entrepreneurs, and music industry decision makers together to foster the advancement of understanding and innovation across the board and help push the music industry forward. Last year's conference brought together investors and executives from companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Pandora, and Foursquare along with content and rights companies such as Island Def Jam, EMI, Glassnote, and the NMPA.

This year's FutureSound Conference in association with Loeb & Loeb LLP also will include the first ever Innovators Showcase Startup Competition, where digital startups will have the opportunity to pitch their company or product to a panel of judges on stage during the conference, with one being named the winner at the conclusion of the event.
