With virtually every line rapped by a majority-black cast, rap battles at key climaxes and deft lyrical and stylistic references to stump the most hardcore hip-hop fans, it's an instant theatrical landmark on par with Hair, which launched the rock musical at New York's Public Theater -- Hamilton's original home -- in 1967.
