Concord Music Publishing has announced a U.S. sub-publishing deal with Paris-based Because Editions. As one of the largest independent music publishers in France, Because Editions is home to the catalogs and copyrights of key French acts such as Daft Punk, Christine and the Queens, Justice and more.

The deal will also be reciprocated in France, where a majority of Concord’s catalog has been sub-published by the company since 2008.

"Because have such a varied and eclectic catalog, we are delighted to extend our remit from the U.K. to now include the U.S. in what is a very exciting time for both Concord and Because,” said Kim Frankiewicz, Concord Music Publishing’s evp of worldwide creative. “With our new global infrastructure in place, and our North America and U.K. creative and marketing teams working hand in hand with Because’s U.S. synch and A&R teams, we are honored that the Because folk have entrusted us with their catalog and look forward to bringing them even more value."

"Concord is a publisher that we, at Because, trust and respect immensely,” added Michel Duval, Because Editions’ managing director. “For a few years now, their U.K. team has done a superb job of representing us in a country where our catalog has become particularly relevant. As we begin to build our U.S. repertoire in a similar way, we believe Concord U.S. will provide the perfect support system for our creative ambitions."

Prior to the U.S. sub-publishing deal, Concord Music Publishing has been administering Because Editions’ catalog in the U.K. since 2013.
