Telemundo’s Latin American Music Awards paid tribute to today’s most influential and iconic Latino artists. As voted by fans, boy band CNCO and Dominican heartthrob Prince Royce both earned four awards, while Enrique Iglesias took home three honors of his own.
The Latin AMAs opened with a fashionable and glamorous purple carpet at the iconic Dolby Theatre, where the awards ceremony was hosted by millennial actress and Latin music phenomenon Becky G and international actor and singer Diego Boneta.
Pop music sensation CNCO won four awards including favorite duo or group – pop/rock. their LP “primera cita” received awards for album of the year and favorite album – pop/rock; while their song “Reggaeton Lento (Bailemos)” won in the favorite song – pop/rock category. Prince Royce also collected four awards including favorite artist – tropical. his set five earned the award for favorite album – tropical, while his collaboration with Shakira, “Déjà vu,” earned honors for song of the year and favorite song – tropical.
Enrique Iglesias took home three awards, including the coveted artist of the year and favorite male artist – pop/rock. His song “Súbeme La Radio,” featuring Descemer Bueno and Zion y Lennox, won for favorite collaboration.
J Balvin was named favorite artist – urban, and his album energía earned favorite album – urban. Global superstar and beloved pop artist Pitbull received the first ever Latin AMA Dick Clark Achievement Award. The distinction was handed out to the Latin artist inspiring all of humanity with his/her dedication to music, and because he/she has used their fame and influence to help those in need.
Ozuna emerged as best new artist.
