Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born is getting a new release date.

The movie, which Cooper directed and stars in with Lady Gaga, is moving up from its previous berth of Sept. 28, 2018, to May 18, 2018. That takes it out of the fall season, the traditional ground for more serious fare.

At the moment, the middle of May 2018 seems to be rather open. Avengers: Infinity War opens May 4, kicking off Hollywood's summer moviegoing season, and Warners is opening the New Line comedy Life of the Party, starring Melissa McCarthy, on the following weekend, May 11.

Currently, releases set for May 18 include the Screen Gems horror movie Slenderman and an untitled animated project from Laika and Focus Features.

A week later, on May 25, Disney releases its much-anticipated Han Solo spin-off.

Star Is Born, based on the 1937 film starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March, centers on a movie star who helps an aspiring young actress find fame, even as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral. It was subsequently remade in 1954 by director George Cukor, with Judy Garland and James Mason starring, and again in 1976, with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson headlining.
