Ricado Arjona gets his ninth No. 1 on the Latin Pop Albums chart as Circo Soledad starts atop the May 13-dated list, earning 5,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 27, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 90 percent were in traditional album sales. The set concurrently tops the Latin Album Sales chart.
Circo, which is Arjona’s 15th studio album, arrives at No. 2 on the multi-metric overall Top Latin Albums chart, which blends traditional sales and track equivalent album units (TEA) and streaming equivalent album units (SEA). It’s his 21st release to dot the tally, following its launch in 1993.
During the tracking week, Arjona performed on the Billboard Latin Music Awards (April 27), singing his album’s single “Ella.” (It was his first-ever performance on the awards.) The show was broadcast live on Telemundo, and on the show, Arjona received the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award.
Over on the Latin Pop Airplay chart the single reaches a new peak, hopping 16-13 in its seventh charting frame (up 15 percent in plays). The song is Arjona’s 43rd chart hit, putting him among the top four acts with the most charted tracks on the 23-year old chart: Shakira is tied with Arjona with 43, while Pitbull has notched 46, and Ricky Martin leads with 47.
Maluma’s Hot Shot Debut: Elsewhere on the charts, Maluma earns his first top 10 debut on the Hot Latin Songs chart as a lead act, as “Felices Los 4” takes the highest weekly entry, arriving at No. 8. The entry is powered by 3 million domestic streams, with 57 percent of those stemming from YouTube. According to the streaming service, the clip (released on April 21) broke the record for the most global views of a Spanish-language music video in its first 24 hours of release: 9.3 million. The previous record holder was J Balvin’s “Sigo Extrañandote,” with 8.1 million. “Felices” previews Maluma’s forthcoming album, X, due later in 2017.
