Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs and albums rising on Billboard's dance charts. This week, Clean Bandit, Kungs and Vassy make the list.
Clean Bandit earns Hot Shot Debut honors on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated Nov. 12) at No. 18 with "Rockabye," featuring Sean Paul and Anne-Marie. The track, which borrows elements of the classic nursery rhyme "Rock-a-Bye Baby," racked 707,000 U.S. streams in the week ending Oct. 27, according to Nielsen Music (the bulk of which were split between Apple Music and Spotify). "Rockabye" also sold 4,000 downloads, good for a No. 15 entry on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales. (The track additionally pads Paul's 2016 resume; most notably, he topped the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks in August as featured on Sia's "Cheap Thrills.")
Kungs featuring Ephemerals, "I Feel So Bad"
French DJ Kungs (aka Valentin Brunel) opens at No. 37 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with "I Feel So Bad," featuring U.K. soul act Ephemerals. The track sold 3,000 in the tracking week, scoring a No. 21 entrance on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales. "Feel" previews Kungs' debut full-length, Layers, due Nov. 4, and is the DJ/producer's second charted song, following breakout hit "This Girl," with Cookin' on 3 Burners. That track reached No. 7 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs (on Sept. 3) and currently sits at No. 9. It has also reached No. 26 on the Hot 100.
Vassy, "Nothing to Lose"
Greek-Australian singer Vassy vaults 21-16 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay with Tiesto production "Nothing to Lose," released on the superstar DJ's Musical Freedom label. The track is Vassy's first solo entry on the chart, following the top 10s "Bad" (by David Guetta and Showtek featuring Vassy; No. 7, 2014) and "Secrets" (by Tiesto and KSHMR featuring Vassy; No. 9, 2015). "Nothing" is drawing notable airplay on KNHC Seattle, WFLZ-HD Tampa, Florida, and Music Choice's Dance/EDM channel.
