Kenny Chesney and Jeezy are racing toward No. 1 on next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart, according to industry forecasters. Sources suggest both Chesney’s Cosmic Hallelujah and Jeezy’s Trap or Die 3 -- which were released on Oct. 28 -- may launch with perhaps 80,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Nov. 3.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the new Nov. 19-dated Billboard 200 chart -- where Chesney and Jeezy are in the hunt for No. 1 -- is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, Nov. 6.
On Oct. 31, it appeared -- based on early prognostications -- that Chesney had a clear course for No. 1. But, as further data was collected by forecasters (and more days ticked by in the tracking week), Jeezy made up the difference.
Both Chesney and Jeezy have been No. 1 previously. Chesney has led the list seven times, while Jeezy has been No. 1 twice.
