Among many collaborative efforts on the set, Encore is driven by lead single "Let Me Love You," featuring Justin Bieber. The track starts at No. 5 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, becoming just the seventh song to debut in the top five dating to the chart's Jan. 26, 2013, inception (and the first of 2016). "Let" sold 113,000 downloads and launches at No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs (as well as No.1 on the overall Digital Songs chart and No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100). DJ Snake scores his third leader on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs, following "Turn Down for What," with Lil Jon (20 weeks at No. 1 in 2014) and "Lean On," with Major Lazer and featuring MO (16 weeks, 2015).
Bieber also earns his third Dance/Electronic Digital Songs No. 1, and third consecutively, following his featured turns on Skrillex and Diplo's "Where Are U Now (No. 1 for four weeks in 2015) and Major Lazer's "Cold Water" (also featuring MO; the song debuted at No. 1 on the Aug. 13 chart).
"Let" additionally kicks off at No. 6 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs with 8.9 million U.S. streams.
Circling back to Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, DJ Snake also debuts at No. 22 with "The Half," featuring Jeremih, Young Thug and Swizz Beatz, and re-enters with "Propaganda" (No. 35) and "Ocho Cinco," featuring Yellow Claw (No. 40). Add in "Middle," featuring Bipolar Sunshine (No. 10), and "Talk," featuring George Maple (No. 23), and the French-born Snake has six songs on the chart.
REHEATED 'WATER': Speaking of "Let Me Love You," the track rebounds 2-1 for a second week atop Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. The track edges out Calvin Harris' "This Is What You Came For," featuring Rihanna (1-2), after three total weeks on top. "Water" drew 19.6 million U.S. streams and sold 66,000 downloads in the tracking week.
CHAINSMOKERS CHARGE: The Chainsmokers soar 28-8 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay with "Closer," featuring Halsey. Since the DJ duo debuted at No. 7 on March 15, 2014, with "#SELFIE," it has scored five top 10s, tied with five other acts for the most in that span. "Closer" is Halsey's first top 10.
Also new to the Dance/Mix Show Airplay top 10 this week is the aforementioned "Cold Water" (13-5). The track is the third top 10 for the Diplo-fronted Major Lazer, the ninth for Bieber and the second for MO. Rounding out the top 10 is another new entry, "This Girl," from Kungs vs Cookin' on 3 Burners (12-10). The track is the first chart hit for both acts.
'LAMBORGHINI' RACES: Skrillex snags his fourth top 10 and Rick Ross his first on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs with "Purple Lamborghini" (12-5). The electronic-rap track pulled 9.7 million U.S. streams (up 165 percent) and sold 29,000 downloads (up 83 percent) and wins top Streaming and Digital Gainer honors on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, where it accelerates 10-7.
BERMUDEZ BOUNDS TO No. 1: Joe Bermudez celebrates the dawn of his first No. 1 on Dance Club Songs with "Sunrise," featuring South African singer Louise Carver (2-1). It's the third top 10 for the Boston-based DJ, who scored his first two in 2015: "DJ Fav," featuring Amanda Brigham (No. 6) and "Forget to Breathe," featuring Natasha Anderson (No. 10). Remixes from Mark Lower, Michael Cassette and Joe Garston, among others, pushed the rise of "Sunrise," also the first leader for Carver.
"My first No. 1 record is kind of like my first kiss," Bermudez beamed to Billboard. "I never thought it was going to happen and when it did it I was overwhelmed with an excitement I've never felt before. So much so, that it's hard to even put into words. It's something that I'll never forget, though."
Carver echoes Bermudez's excitement. "When I heard that Joe and I are No. 1 on the Billboard chart this week, I literally screamed in shock. I am trying to just enjoy the moment and appreciate this really incredible gift!"
