Dominique Trenier, former manager of D’Angelo and 20-year music executive, was found dead in his Los Angeles home Friday morning (Aug. 5), Okayplayer reports. No cause of death has been revealed yet.
Trenier, who played a major role in the neo-soul movement, was the visionary behind D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” video in 2000, which supercharged the R&B singer’s career. Trenier also produced D’Angelo’s No. 1 2000 album Voodoo and is responsible for Seal’s rendition of Steve Miller’s “Fly Like an Eagle” from the Space Jam soundtrack, which Trenier produced alongside R. Kelly.
The Roots' Questlove remembered his friend and colleague via Instagram with the caption “Trenier. So Much Wisdom. So Little Time.”
