Organizers of the 2016 Hot 97 Summer Jam in New Jersey canceled the music event’s Festival Stage performances Sunday afternoon (June 5) over the threat of severe weather.
Artists included Chance the Rapper, Tory Lanez, Desiigner and Curren$y were scheduled to play the Festival Stage between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in a lot outside of MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Main stage performances, however, were still on at press time.
“HOT 97 and MetLife Stadium’s top priority is the safety of our concert goers, performers and staff,” organizers wrote in a statement Sunday, noting that further delays are possible. “Stadium gates will now open at 8:30 p.m. for the concert on the main stadium stage.”
Summer Jam 2016's main stage lineup includes Future, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Pusha T, Big Sean and A$AP Rocky.
Earlier in the day Sunday, organizers of Governors Ball on Randall's Island in New York were forced to cancel the final day of the festival of similar weather concerns. Additionally, authorities in western Germany pulled the plug on the popular Rock am Ring festival Sunday because of a storm warning.
