Adele’s "Hello" is poised to ring-up a new record for the U.K.’s fastest-selling single of 2015.

The British singer’s comeback single is well ahead of Justin Bieber's "Sorry" (Def Jam) in the race to the U.K. chart summit having racked-up stunning sales at the chart week’s half-way point. 

The XL Recordings release is at No. 1 in the Top 100 Official Singles Chart Update having already shifted upwards of 165,000 combined sales and streams at the mid-way mark, a result which includes 156,000 downloads. That’s an average of 52,000 daily downloads across the three days since its release last Friday (Oct. 23).

"Hello," the first song lifted from Adele’s forthcoming album release 25, is an almost certainty to become the Londoner’s second No. 1 single in her homeland. Her first was with "Someone Like You," which spent five weeks at the peak in 2011. 

The song should also dethrone Ellie Goulding’s "Love Me Like You Do," which achieved the biggest opening week of the year thus far with 173,000 combined sales and streams in its first seven days. Adele's latest should “comfortably bulldoze” Goulding’s sales feat, the OCC notes. The video has already smashed Vevo's global single-day streaming record (27.7 million) and YouTube trends manager Kevin Allocca has declared the track as "one of the most-watched music video debuts of all time."

"What an explosive return for Adele,” comments Martin Talbot, CEO of the Official Charts Company, in a statement. “It is a huge challenge for any artist returning after such a huge last record - as 21 and its singles were. But Adele has smashed it right out of the park with a fantastic single, which has connected with British music fans comprehensively. She already looks set to be the queen of quarter four."

The U.K.'s singles sales chart is compiled by the OCC, based on sales of downloads, CDs, vinyl and audio streams. The new chart is published late Friday local time.
