Janet Jackson Earns Historic Seventh No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart

The Artist 100 measures artist activity across Billboard's most influential charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Top Album Sales and the Social 50. The Artist 100 blends data measuring album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Drake totals a fifth cumulative week at No. 1 on the Artist 100 (down 4 percent in overall activity). Streaming marks his greatest points contributor (46 percent), followed by digital song sales (29 percent) and radio airplay and album sales (11 percent each). Drake boasts 12 titles on the 50-position Streaming Songs chart, including eight from What a Time to Be Alive, his mixtape album with Future, which drops 5-6 in its third week on the Top Album Sales chart. The set slides by 56 percent to 27,000 in pure album sales (in the week ending Oct. 8, according to Nielsen Music).

Below Drake on the Artist 100, The Weeknd holds at No. 2 and Taylor Swift rebounds 4-3, swapping spots with Fetty Wap (3-4).

Janet jumps onto the Artist 100 at No. 5, with 96 percent of her activity from album sales. Her new set Unbreakable arrives atop the Billboard 200 with 116,000 equivalent album units earned and Top Album Sales with 109,000 in traditional album sales. As previously reported, the album marks her seventh Billboard 200 No. 1 and makes her just the third act to achieve No. 1s on the chart in each of the last four decades, joining Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand.

Among other acts making notable debuts on the Artist 100 this week, also driven primarily by sales of newly-charting albums: R&B singer Tamar Braxton (No. 14) and hard rock band Clutch (No. 33).
