The '80s-retro, dance/rock hybrid hit ties Hozier's "Take Me to Church," which led Hot Rock Songs for 23 weeks from November 2014 to April, and Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" (23 weeks, April-September 2013). (Hot Rock Songs launched in 2009.)"Dance" reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 (now ranking at No. 16 in its 42nd week on the chart) and has sold 2.8 million downloads since its release, according to Nielsen Music. The song from the band, formed in 2008 in Cincinnati, has also crowned the Adult Pop Songs, Adult Contemporary and Alternative Songs airplay charts, for eight, five (to date) and four weeks, respectively.
Meanwhile, "Different Colors," the second single from the group's latest studio effort, Talking Is Hard, holds for a second week at its No. 14 peak so far on Alternative Songs.
Check back next week to see if "Dance" can spend a 24th week atop Hot Rock Songs and claim the chart's No. 1 longevity record all to itself.
