Online video portal Vevo has taped Jon Carvill as its new vice president of communication. In his new role, Carvill will lead all PR and corporate communications efforts while based out of Vevo's San Francisco office. He reports directly to company president/CEO Erik Huggers.
"Jon Carvill is a proven communications leader across the media and technology industries," said Huggers. "We are fortunate to have someone of Jon's caliber join the company, and I look forward to working closely with him again as we build Vevo into the leading all-premium music video and entertainment platform."
Carvill arrives at Vevo from Qualcomm, where he was most recently the senior director of PR. He has also held similar positions at Intel and Globalfoundries, and previously worked various PR-related roles at AMD and ATI.
Carvill joins Vevo during a crucial time. Co-owned by Universal Music Group, Sony Music, Abu Dhabi Media and Google, it is reportedly in early discussions with Warner Music Group to end label's status as the only major not represented on the site.
