Julie Gilbert-Cahill, a well-known radio promotion director and music manager throughout the '80s and '90s, died on July 20 in Woodland Hills, Calif., according to a press release. She was 58.

The Detroit native first served as the head of promotion for ABC-owned rock 'n' roll radio station WRIF-FM.

"She was a fearless, energetic promotion person who played a huge role in our success," says Fred Jacobs, president of Jacobs Media and former WRIF-FM program director.

Later in 1983, Gilbert-Cahill moved to Los Angeles to coordinate tours for major artists including Jimmy Buffett, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, and Chicago at Howard Kaufman's HK Music Management firm.

Then she worked at Peter Asher Management, where she worked with artists including Warren Zevon, Linda Ronstadt and Joni Mitchell.

Gilbert-Cahill is survived by her husband, Jim, two sons, James and Jake, her mother and her siblings.
