Major Lazer and DJ Snake top Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated Aug. 1) with "Lean On," featuring MO (3-1). It's the first leader for Major Lazer and the second for DJ Snake, who, with Lil Jon, scored the chart's No. 1 song of 2014, "Turn Down for What."
"Lean" accumulated 9.6 million U.S. streams in the week ending July 16, according to Nielsen Music, enough to power back to No. 1, for a fourth total week, on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (4-1). Lazer and Snake remain No. 1 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, as well, for a third straight week. As previously reported, the track surges into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 (17-9).
Meanwhile, another Major Lazer track, "Too Original," debuts on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs at No. 8 (9,000 downloads sold) as it returns to Hot Dance/Electronic Songs at No. 21. The track, featuring Elliphant & Jovi Rockwell, was featured on the iTunes Hot Tracks page during the tracking week.
AVICII ADVANCES: Elsewhere on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Avicii ascends five spots with "Waiting for Love" (12-7). The song sold 8,000 downloads in the tracking week, up 16 percent. It's the sixth top 10 for Avicii, tying him with David Guetta for the second-most since the chart's January 2013 launch. Calvin Harris and Zedd lead with seven each.
NEW YEARS: Years & Years crown Top Dance/Electronic Albums with their first full-length, Communion (9,000 units). Previously, on April 4, the act hit No. 2 with its Y & Y EP. The trio of Mikey Goldsworthy (bassist), Emre Turkmen (keyboardist) and Olly Alexander (vocalist) also plants three tracks on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs: "King" (No. 15), "Shine" (No. 47) and "Ties" (No. 48).
IT'S 'WORKING': Staying with Top Dance/Electronic Albums, Little Boots (real name: Victoria Christina Hesketh) barrels in at No. 10 with Working Girl (1,000 units). It's the first top 10 album for Boots, who's likely best known for her song "Remedy," which reached No. 20 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay in 2010. Working track "Better in the Morning" made it to No. 19 on the Billboard + Twitter Emerging Artists chart in May.
'VU' FROM THE TOP: Over on Dance Club Songs, Giorgio Moroder marks his second No. 1 in four months, following a 15-year absence from the list, with "Deja Vu" (2-1). It's the fifth leader for featured act Sia. Remixes from Benny Benassi, Felix Jaehn and Thin White Duke, among others, helped take Moroder (who sat in with the band on NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on July 20) to the top.
NOT SO SECRET: On Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Tiesto, with KSHMR, clambers 22-9 with "Secrets," featuring Vassy. It's the seventh top 10 for Tiesto, who scored the survey's No. 2 song of last year, "Red Lights," which spent 11 weeks at No. 1. "Secrets" is the first top 10 for producer KSHMR and second for Australian vocalist Vassy.
CROSSOVER AUDIEN-CE: Finally, one of country's cornerstone acts, Lady Antebellum, shimmies onto multiple Billboard dance charts thanks to "Something Better," its collaboration with DJ Audien. The track starts at No. 27 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, where it's the trio's first entry, and No. 44 on Dance Club Songs.
Lady A, which has tallied 29 titles, including 12 No. 1s, on Hot Country Songs, crossed the velvet rope onto Dance Club Songs once before: "Need You Now" hit No. 15 in 2010. Originally a smash midtempo ballad (hitting No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100), it charted on Dance Club Songs powered by a Jason Nevins remix.
