Australia will have a new weekly streaming chart from this weekend.
Trade body ARIA has announced its new chart will collate data from YouTube, including Vevo on YouTube, and user-generated clips that carry audio recordings in addition to the audio streams already being collected from music streaming services Deezer, JB Now, Rdio, Google Play and Spotify.
The ARIA Top 40 Audio & Visual Streaming Chart will launch from May 18.
In a statement, ARIA CEO Dan Rosen says the new chart will present an even clearer picture of younger Australians' listening habits. “We aim to continuously evolve the ARIA Charts to ensure that they accurately represent the new ways that Australian music fans are consuming their favourite music,” comments Rosen in a statement. “There is no denying the impact YouTube has today on music and popular culture.”
ARIA's stable of more than 20 charts including lists for singles, albums, and streaming tracks.
