Paloma Faith has shut down her first tour of Australia due to illness.
The reigning best British female Brit Award-winner pulled up sick ahead of her second show at Sydney’s State Theatre on Tuesday. The gig was rescheduled the following night, but was subsequently called off. Now, on medical advice, she’s nixed that Sydney date and her planned shows in Adelaide (AEC Theatre on May 14) and Perth (Concert Hall on May 16).
Paloma tweeted that she's not yet well enough to fly, and that she plans to have tests on her return home to "see what the root cause is."
Faith managed to play the first three of her six booked shows Down Under, which started May 5 in Melbourne. A statement from promoters Live Nation Australia states, “Paloma hopes to return to Australia at her earliest opportunity to perform for her fans.”
The retro-soul singer’s third album, A Perfect Contradiction (through Sony Music Australia) cracked the top 5 on the Australian albums chart. The second single lifted from it, the Diane Warren-penned “Only Love Can Hurt Like This,” reached No. 1 Down Under last July.
