Neil Diamond’s fans Down Under won’t have to miss out on his latest comeback. The veteran singer has confirmed a seven-date tour that will visit arenas and wineries in Australia and New Zealand next October and November. And his itinerary has the flexibility to fit in many more shows.
Diamond’s 2015 tour of Australasia starts Oct. 19 at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand, then visits Dunedin, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, the Hunter Valley and wraps-up Nov. 9 at Sydney’s Allphones Arena.
On the trek, he’ll play works from his latest studio album Melody Road, which debuted in the Top 10 in the U.S and Australia. And of course, he’ll hit audiences with his many classics, including "Cherry Cherry," "Holly Holy," "Cracklin’ Rosie," "Song Sung Blue," "You Don’t Bring Me Flowers," "Solitary Man," "Sweet Caroline," "Love on the Rocks," "Desiree" and "Shilo."
Paul Dainty’s Dainty Group is promoting the tour. Tickets for arena shows are priced from Australian $59.90 ($50) to $159.90 ($135) (plus transaction and credit card charges fees) and will be available from Dec. 11. The pre-sale begins Dec. 8 at www.telstra.com/music.
The Grammy Award-winning artist has enjoyed a stellar career. He’s been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and he’s a recipient of the prestigious Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award for songwriters. His trophy cabinet includes a Golden Globe Award, the 2009 NARAS MusiCares Person of the Year award and in 2011 he earned the Kennedy Center Honor for his lifetime of contributions to American culture. His 2015 diary has a full-slate of live commitments, with north American shows booked from February through May, followed by European shows.
Melody Road, Diamond’s 32nd studio and his first through a new deal with Capitol, opened at No. 8 on the ARIA chart in October. It's his first album of new material since Home Before Dark from 2008 (which peaked at No. 9). A covers album, Dreams, topped out at No. 5 in November 2010. In the U.S., Melody Road pulled-in at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, giving Diamond his 18th top 10 album.
