Iggy Azalea has become the latest artist who’ll be kicking off 2015 Vegas-style. The “Fancy” rapper announced a New Year’s Eve concert with Drai’s Nightclub at The Cromwell on the Las Vegas Strip, with a main-stage performance set to prelude a rooftop view of the famous Strip Fireworks Extravaganza.
Azalea joins an increasingly long list of other concerts and music-related events scheduled for that night -- including Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett at The Cosmopolitan, Britney Spears’ Piece of Me at Planet Hollywood, Maroon 5 at Mandalay Bay, Calvin Harris at Hakkasan, Nicky Romero and Alesso at Light, Olivia Newton John at The Flamingo and even Azalea’s Instagram rival Snoop Dogg, who will host his “Snoopadelic Cabaret” at Tao. Additionally, Drake is set to make an appearance at Marquee. Vegas draws an estimated 300,000 people every year for New Year's celebrations.
“There is nothing like Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve and Iggy is the perfect artist to ring in 2015 at Drai’s,” Michael Gruber, Drai’s managing partner and president, says in a statement. “We have set out to shake up the status-quo with a full concert as part of your nightlife evening, not just an appearance. We are going to bring our nightlife customers and music-lovers the best party imaginable.”
Adds Azalea, “I am so excited to celebrate New Year's Eve at Drai’s and welcome in 2015 in Las Vegas.”
In May, Azalea became the first artist since The Beatles in 1964 to hold the Nos. 1 and 2 positions on the Hot 100 with their debut entries on the singles chart. Since then, she’s racked up a third top 5 hit (“Black Widow,” featuring Rita Ora) and recently debuted a fourth single, “Beg For It,” that will double as the lead-in to Reclassified, a re-packaging of her debut The New Classic, due Nov. 24.
