President, MAC Presents

Marcie Allen has become a significant force in the business of marketing music thanks to the growing number of sponsorships brokered by her company, MAC Presents. In the past year, Allen has worked with Citi on integrated sponsorships for the Rolling Stones, John Mayer, Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players and Billy Joel. Last month, MAC Presents announced a deal it brokered with Delta Airlines and singer Michael Bublé for a flyaway social-media promotion for Bublé’s Seattle show in November. Additional sponsorships were negotiated for Samsung and Verizon (John Legend) and Samsung and AT&T (for the Life Is Beautiful Festival and Riot Fest). But Allen has also given back: She received the Humanitarian Award at this year’s Billboard Touring Awards for her work on behalf of families in Rockaway Beach, N.Y., after Hurricane Sandy. One of Allen’s favorite quotes is from former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright about “a special place in hell” for women who don’t help other women. Allen says she has worked to build a network of women in the industry with whom she does business, but also considers close friends. “At this point in my career,” she says, “I want to work with people I enjoy.” —Glenn Peoples
