Kate Des Enfants McMahon, VP/senior director of marketing for the Messina Group/AEG Live, counts her company’s ongoing success with Kenny Chesney and George Strait among her proudest moments in the last year. “After over 100 stadiums,” she says of Chesney’s tours, “his live show, and the fans that come to it, are still a fresh and fun thing. In 2012, we played only stadiums. In 2013, we played a mix of 18 stadiums, arenas and amphitheaters—and yet increased our ticket sales by over 100,000.” Meanwhile, Strait’s farewell tour has been a personal and professional success. “Seeing him win the Country Music Assn. entertainer of the year, after an amazing year of touring, brought me to happy tears,” she says. “This year we sold over 73,000 tickets in San Antonio [at the Alamodome]. That level of reverence for the man in his hometown was an amazing thing to experience.” —Ken Tucker
