Best Time Ever host Neil Patrick Harris tells Billboard that "music will be a big factor" on the breakneck-paced live variety show, which debuted on NBC on Sept. 15. "We will feature beloved classic songs performed live," he says. Gloria Gaynor appeared on the first episode to perform her classic hit "I Will Survive" for the show's "Singalong Live" segment and music will also be used to "keep energy up, with an emphasis on good vibes. Think Black Eyed Peas," he says. "Music to groove to; music to smile to." The show is shot at Kaufman Astoria Studios in Astoria, N.Y., so New York is currently home for Harris, but, as someone who works extensively on both coasts, we asked the actor to compare his New York and Los Angeles lifestyles.
