Prince Rolls Out 'Welcome 2 America' Tour Dates

Prince Drops By 'The View' Unannounced

Prince will kick off his Welcome 2 America tour with a string of arena dates in New York and New Jersey, marking his first run of East Coast shows since 2004.

The pop-funk legend, who announced the trek's first five dates this week, will begin with a three-night stand at East Rutherford, N.J.'s Izod Center (Dec. 14-17), followed by two shows on Dec. 18 and 29 at New York's Madison Square Garden. The gap between the latter gigs already has many speculating that Prince may add more tri-state dates in December.

Prince first announced his plans for a Welcome 2 America tour in an Oct. 14 press conference at New York's Apollo Theatre, where he said, "Bring your friends, bring your children, and bring foot spray, because it's going to be funky." The singer will perform and play master of ceremonies at each show, which will also feature Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding and Cassandra Wilson.
