Taylor Swift may not have set the big screen on fire in the box office dud Cats, but the singer almost had a role in the hit TV show Vampire Diaries. That's according to Nina Dobrev, one of the stars of beloved supernatural teen drama that ended its run in 2017.

Appearing on E! News' Pop of the Morning, to promote Run This Town -- a drama about the headline-scorching tenure of late Toronto Mayor Rob Ford -- Dobrev revealed that Swift would have joined the show's star-studded cast if it wasn't for a bad case of timing.

"I remember at the very beginning, we heard that Taylor Swift was a fan of the show," Dobrev said.

"And then the producers tried to write a role for her. It didn't work out, schedule-wise, obviously she wasn't on the show, but that was a surprising one... I think she would have been great." A spokesperson for Swift could not be reached for comment at press time about her almost-Vampire cameo.
