Tina Fey Approves Of Ariana Grande's 'Mean Girls'-Themed 'Thank U, Next' Video: It's 'Pretty Cool'

Two thumbs up from Ms. Norbury! Tina Fey gave Ariana Grande’s Mean Girls-inspired "Thank U, Next" video her stamp of approval during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (Feb. 25).

“The video’s pretty cool, right?” the comedian told host Jimmy Fallon, after praising Ariana’s turn as the iconic queen of The Plastics, aka Regina George.

Fey, who wrote the script for the original Mean Girls film in 2004 as well as the book for the current Broadway adaptation, said she found out about the tribute from her daughter Alice

“I got a text from my 13-year-old being like, ‘The video’s dropping in three minutes! Ariana’s dropping a video, it’s going to have Mean Girls in it!’” Fey said before joking, “I was like, ‘You’re at school, why do you have your phone?'”

The Mean Girls segment of Ariana’s rom-com-inspired video also stars Liz Gillies as Cady Heron, and Jonathan Bennett reprising his role of Aaron Samuels from the original film.
