Steve Carell on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Nov. 15, 2018.

The actor told "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon he wasn't sure if Clarkson liked his "40 Year-Old Virgin" homage.

During his Thursday night (Nov.15) appearance on The Tonight Show, Steve Carell described meeting Kelly Clarkson for the first time this year after screaming her name in 2005's The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

In the film's hilarious chest-waxing scene, Carrell's Andy Stitzer screams "Kelly Clarkson," in anguish while getting waxed as part of a makeover by his friends. Carell told host Jimmy Fallon that he didn't know Clarkson before the film and finally got the opportunity to meet her at the 2018 Golden Globes Awards. The 56-year-old actor tweeted a photo from the show with the 36-year-old singer/songwriter and captioned it "Finally."

Carell also admitted that he was nervous and worried about meeting The Voice judge. "Well I thought she'd be mad at me about that [scene]," Carell said. "I wasn't sure because I had never met her over those years, and I don't know, [she might think] like 'is he making fun of me, why would he say that in anguish,' incidentally I love Kelly Clarkson, I'm a big fan."
