Keith Urban Recalls His Worst Gig Ever, Halsey Talks 'Screaming Her Head Off' in New 'Voice' Clip: Exclusive

This season's The Voice mentors, Keith Urban, Cee Lo Green, Halsey and Thomas Rhett, might come from completely different musical genres and backgrounds, but when recalling the excitement of hearing themselves on the radio for the first time, it’s a feeling they all can relate to.

Halsey vividly remembers hearing her song “Ghost” on the radio and “screaming her head off.” When it comes to favorite songs to perform live, the "Alone" singer said it "changes every night" based on her mood, while Thomas Rhett sweetly mentioned his song “Die A Happy Man,” which he wrote about his wife.

“For some reason it just translated in such a crazy way, and to hear fans react to it that way, I think, is what makes it my favorite song to play,” Rhett says.

Another thing all four mentors can agree on is that they would have not gotten to where they are without a few bumps along their road to fame. Keith Urban remembers playing a show on an airport baggage carousel that started moving during his performance, calling it “the worst gig ever.” For Rhett, it was back in 6th grade, playing a Halloween party with his punk rock band High Heeled Flip-Flops.

“I think there was like 10 people there, he joked. “I’ve come a way since then.”

The Voice airs on NBC Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET. Keith Urban will mentor for Blake Shelton's team, Thomas Rhett will assist Kelly Clarkson, Halsey is joining Jennifer Hudson, and CeeLo Green will help Adam Levine. Watch the exclusive video with the Voice mentors above.
