Australian star Felix Mallard stopped by The Late Late Show With James Corden on Wednesday (Oct. 17) to open up about his experience leading the new CBS series Happy Together -- on which he plays a character inspired by Harry Styles -- and how he got a call from the man himself to let him know he had landed the part.

Mallard shared how he originally auditioned with an American accent, but eventually the producers decided to go for his natural, Australian pronunciation.“It ended up being a cool thing for the character to be so far from home, and its cool to have an Aussie voice in an American show!" Mallard proudly stated.

The Aussie then shared an anecdote of how Styles himself called him to share the exciting news. “I was expecting a call from Ben, our executive producer, and all of the sudden the phone rings. An unknown number calls, so I put on a hat and get ready to talk. I answer, and it goes, 'Hi, this is Harry. We really like your stuff and we hope you come on board,'” Mallard recalled, adding how much that caught him off guard.

Happy Together follows the lives of newlyweds Jake and Claire, who are settling down and adjusting to a calmer lifestyle. That all changes when a client of Jake's accounting firm, Cooper -- who also happens to be a pop star -- decides to escape the spotlight by moving in with them. The show is loosely based on Styles' breakout years with One Direction
