After eight years of marriage, actors Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are splitting up -- and Twitter may be even more distraught over the breakup than the two stars themselves.

Faris and Pratt made the heartfelt announcement that they plan to legally separate on Instagram late last night (Aug 6). "We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed," reads the post, jointly signed by the couple. "We still love each other and will always cherish our time together.”

But the news still came as a shock to fans, many of whom have followed the Hollywood couple's romance since they met while working together on the 2007 flick Take Me Home Tonight. The two have built steady followings independently as well: Pratt's through his roles as Andy Dwyer in NBC’s Parks and Recreation as well as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, and Faris through Scary MovieHouse Bunny and her recent podcast "Anna Faris is Unqualified."

Judging from the Twitterstorm that followed, it seems like a support group for heartbroken fans may be in order -- though a few chose to celebrate Pratt's new single-hood instead.
