'America's Got Talent' Breakout Singer Evie Clair Returns With Heart-Wrenching 'I Try': Exclusive

Remember Evie Clair? If the name doesn't ring a bell, her emotional story will. The 13-year-old broke the hearts of America's Got Talent viewers last month when she made her debut on the NBC show and sang Christina Perri's "Arms" for her cancer-stricken dad.

As she explained to the judges during her June debut, Clair's dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer last year and given a 5 percent chance to live, and "Arms" is the song she sings to him when he's having a rough day.

For Clair's next performance -- set to air Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and premiering exclusively below on Billboard -- she performs a heart-wrenching version of Macy Gray's Billboard Hot 100 top five hit "I Try," injecting new meaning into each lyric with her poignant delivery. While the performance is mature far beyond her 13 years, Clair's mouth full of braces will remind you just what a wunderkind she is, as her proud parents beam from the audience.

We'll have to wait until Tuesday to see what judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum think about Clair's latest performance, but it's pretty clear that Spice Girl Mel B is touched by the rendition, as she wipes tears from her eyes in the preview below. And yes, that is DJ Khaled sitting front and center at the judges' table, looking captivated: The hip-hop producer with the Midas touch is a guest judge this week. Will Evie end up on his next Hot 100 hit?

America's Got Talent airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
