So what was happening on the Real-Time Charts this week?

The Weeknd's new single, "The Hills" -- a possible contender for this year's song of the summer -- emerges and dethrones the top contender (Taylor Swift’s "Bad Blood") from the top of the weekly Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart. "The Hills" follows two successful songs for the Weeknd: Ariana Grande's "Love Me Harder" and "Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)" from the titular movie soundtrack. Both songs topped the Trending 140 for extended runs and reached the top 10 on the Hot 100 chart.

At least three tracks from the Weeknd's upcoming album leaked and impacted Twitter just in the past week, including "In the 90's," "In the Night," and "I Can’t Feel My Face," which is produced by Max Martin.

Lil Mama released a new song, "Sausage" -- so great we probably don't deserve it. Her first single in years topped the Trending 140 after it was released on World Star Hip-Hop on May 28. It's full of rap references of and from various rap artists, including Big Sean, Fetty Wap, Method Man, and the catchy chorus derived from a popular Vine clip.

Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment (which includes Chance the Rapper) released their collaborative album, Surf, for free on iTunes on May 29. The J. Cole-assisted, "Warm Enough" -- which features the right vibes -- charted on the Trending 140 chart. The album is loaded with guest appearances including B.o.B., Busta Rhymes, BJ the Chicago Kid, Janelle Monae, Big Sean, Jeremih and Erykah Badu.

Maroon 5's "This Summer’s Gonna Hurt like a MFER" topped the Trending 140 on May 31. The song is from the reissue of their album V; which also contains Trending 140 chart-toppers "Maps," "Animals"and  "Sugar."

The Trending 140 chart measures the acceleration of conversation around artists and their music, while the Emerging Artists chart measures the volume of tweets around new artists and their songs.
