So what was happening on the Real-Time Charts this week?

As March Madness and spring creep up from around the corner, Rihanna earns two new Trending 140 No. 1s before they're even officially released. On Thursday, March 5, she shared a snippet of her new song "Higher" on Instagram, which caused it to shoot straight to the top of the chart. On Friday, March 6, Rihanna's new song "American Oxygen" was previewed through ads for the upcoming NCAA March Madness Tournament, which kicks off Sunday March 15. "American Oxygen" emerged on to the top of the Trending 140.

At the same time, the Janoskians -- five guys from Australia (three of them brothers) who started out making prank videos on YouTube before transitioning into music -- traded places with Rihanna at the top of the chart with their new song "LA Girl." The band took time out of their busy schedule to talk to Billboard about the differences between LA Girls and girls from Melbourne, and how they found a balance between music and comedy.

The Trending 140 chart measures the acceleration of conversation around artists and their music, while the Emerging Artists chart measures the volume of tweets around new artists and their songs.
