Jack & Jack, John Legend, Common & Rihanna: Real-Time Twitter Chart Rewind Ep. 38

Welcome back to Billboard's weekly video show "Real-Time Rewind," which recaps the past week's hottest action on the new Billboard Real-Time Twitter Charts --Trending 140 and Emerging Artists -- and the news that's driving the action. Joe Levy is joined by Jack & Jack in the studio in episode 38, which includes an Oscars recap featuring John Legend, Common, Adam Levine and Rita Ora.

So what was happening on the Real-Time charts this week?

The Trending 140 is affected by real life events. The 87th annual Academy Awards, which aired on Sunday, Feb. 22, drove a number of songs to the top of the chart. The songs that charted include Original Song nominated "Lost Stars" (sung by Adam Levine), "Greatful" (sung by Rita Ora) and "Glory" (sung by Common and John Legend). Common and John Legend took home the Oscar for the Selma-theme song. "Glory" held down the No. 1 spot on the Trending 140 for over two hours, and was in the top 10 for four and a half hours.

Aside from Selma, another movie drove a song to the No. 1 spot on the Trending 140: the animated Dreamworks film Home. The film's soundtrack features the recently released song "Towards The Sun," by Rihanna. The singer is also the voice behind the Home's main character. This is Rihanna's second recent No. 1 on the Trending 140 following "FourFiveSeconds" with Kanye West and Paul McCartney.

Real-Time charts veterans Jack and Jack join Levy on the latest Real-Time Rewind episode for a special guest segment. Jack and Jack have topped the Trending 140 with five different songs, 72 different times.

The Trending 140 chart measures the acceleration of conversation around artists and their music, while the Emerging Artists chart measures the volume of tweets around new artists and their songs.
