Welcome back to Billboard's weekly video show "Real-Time Rewind," which recaps the past week's hottest action on the new Billboard Real-Time Twitter Charts --Trending 140 and Emerging Artists -- and the news that's driving the action. Joe Levy is back in the studio for Episode 30, counting down some of the top moments of 2014 which includes Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, Hozier and Bobby Shmurda.

So what were some of the biggest moments on Twitter and the Real-Time charts this year?

One Direction had a big year in 2014 as the most-retweeted artist, according to Twitter. Nineteen different songs of theirs hit No. 1 on the Trending 140 since the chart debuted in May. However, the biggest winner of the year is 5 Seconds of Summer. The band reached the No. 1 spot 287 different times throughout the year, more than any other artist.

Who were the Emerging Artists wins of the year? Hozier graduated from the Real-time Emerging Artists chart to have a Billboard 200 No. 2 album and a Grammy nomination. Bobby Shmurda also dominated the Emerging Artists chart with 837 appearances in the No. 1 spot.

The Trending 140 chart measures the acceleration of conversation around artists and their music, while the Emerging Artists chart measures the volume of tweets around new artists and their songs.
