IF DONALD GOT FIRED - Randy Rainbow Parody

Normally, when internet comedian Randy Rainbow goes after President Donald Trump with one of his scathing parody songs, he does it mostly by himself. But today (Oct. 7), the star is getting an assist from one of Broadway's biggest stars.

On Wednesday, Rainbow released his latest Trump-inspired parody video, "If Donald Got Fired," this time featuring none other than Broadway legend Patti LuPone. Set to the tune of "If Momma Was Married" from Gypsy, the song fits perfectly for LuPone, as the actress famously earned her second Tony Award for her portrayal of Rose in the 2008 Broadway revival.

The video opens with Rainbow serving as the moderator for the chaotic first presidential debate. As he tries to keep hold of the reins, LuPone suddenly appears in a puff of smoke, telling a bewildered Rainbow that "when gay men are in crisis, I just materialize."

The two quickly launch into their parody, dreaming of what a future world without Donald Trump as president might look like — as Rainbow states at the outset, "We could go back to life as we once knew it; miserable and unfair, but at least without the daily threat of complete authoritarianism and apocalyptic destruction!"

Both LuPone and Rainbow get their fair share of punches in on the President, taking him to task for just about everything he's done throughout his term before handing out one final message for viewers before election day arrives on November 3: "But there's no decidin', I'm ridin' with Biden," Lupone sings, before the pair belt out one final line: "Oh Donald, just leave us alone!"

In a statement released with the song, Rainbow called working with LuPone a "dream come true," adding that "it’s no secret that I have always been obsessed with Patti LuPone. She’s been an idol of mine since childhood, so I still can’t believe this actually happened!” Similarly, LuPone tipped her hat to Rainbow's excellent parody work, saying “I’m so thrilled to be part of Randy’s satiric brilliance. I wish I could have lived up to it but he’s in a stratosphere all his own.”
