LGBTQ civil rights organization Equality California announced on Friday (Sept. 4) that it will honor Norman Lear and Laverne Cox at a Sunday, Sept. 13 virtual celebration. The Golden State Equality Awards will see the 98-year-old TV pioneer behind culture shifting shows such as All In the Family and The Jeffersons receive the ally leadership award, to be presented by friends/fellow legends Gloria Estefan and Rita Moreno (both of whom feature in One Day At A Time, a reboot of his '70s/'80s sitcom that's part of the upcoming CBS fall lineup).

Additionally, Laverne Cox, Sam Feder and Amy Scholder will receive the equality visibility award for their work on the Netflix documentary Disclosure. Pete and Chasten Buttigieg will receive the equality trailblazer award at the Golden State Equality Awards, too.

The Golden State Equality Awards feature performances from Rufus Wainwright, Melissa Etheridge, Betty Who, Alex Newell, Shea Diamond and Robin S, with Pose star Angelica Ross hosting. Tig Notaro, Zachary Quinto, Bob the Drag Queen, Conrad Ricamora, Keiynan Lonsdale and Chelsea Gray are part of the celebration, which also features U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi honoring the late John Lewis for his LGBTQ allyship.

You can watch a private stream of the event at 6 p.m. PT on Sept 13; tickets are available here.
