Throughout the history of RuPaul's Drag Race, the grand finale has gone through a massive evolution, from a closed studio ceremony to a massive lip-sync showdown in front of a live audience. Now it's evolving yet again, this time to accommodate the pandemic we're currently living in.

On Friday (May 15), VH1 announced that both the upcoming reunion and finale episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race have been filmed virtually, with all of the queens joining the festivities via their homes, with social distancing measures to combat the coronavirus in full effect.

First, the reunion episode (set to air on Friday, May 22 on VH1) will feature 12 queens joining a "virtual slumber party" hosted, as always, by RuPaul. As usual, the episode will show the queens reviewing some of season's best highlights, including shock eliminations, shady moments and more. Plus, the girls will also take a moment to answer fans' most burning questions in a Q&A segment.

The finale (set to air on Friday, May 29 on VH1) will see this season's finalists competing for the crown in a brand new format. Using "innovative technology that highlights the creativity of the queens," the show will still feature the final queens lip syncing for the title of America's Next Drag Superstar.

Along with providing the usual lip sync extravaganza, the Drag Race finale will also reportedly feature some surprise celebrity guest appearances, as well as our current reigning winner of season 11 Yvie Oddly, who will pass down the crown to her successor. Nina West will also appear in the finale to crown the next Miss Congeniality, who is set to receive a $10,000 cash prize, courtesy of sponsor Pantene.

Before you check out the reunion & finale, be sure to watch tonight's episode of RuPaul's Drag Race at 8:00 p.m. ET on VH1.
